Technology Program
Welcome
Welcome to the Technology Page of St. Martin of Tours School. We are fortunate to have many resources to enhance our students education in the field of technology. Not only is the computer lab equipped with 23 iMac computers, we also have available a lap top cart with Macbooks readily available to enrich the curriculum in the classroom. In addition, each classroom contains a PC and Smart Boards are available to all classes.
Philosophy
In todays exciting world of technology, it is important that students not only be able to feel confident in their computer skills, but also to understand the role of technology and their responsibility to use it in a way that is consistent with their ethical, moral and Christian values.
Curriculum
Curriculum is based on the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Curriculum Guideline for Technology. All lessons are collaborated with classroom teachers to enhance and reinforce subject matters of all grades. Students are exposed to Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as Apples iWork program equipped with Pages and Keynote. Students also work with the Inspiration/Kidspiration programs. Use of the internet for research is guided and limited to approved and assigned sites. The use of proper Keyboarding is practiced and encouraged. Games are limited to classroom use and used only as a supplement to current lesson plans of the grade. We have recently introduced United Streaming, an exciting program with an abundant library of videos to enhance learning in all subject areas.
Support
St. Martin of Tours School is supported by a tech team that consists of dedicated parents, teachers and parishioners who work in the field of technology as well as AmeriStructure, a technology support company. If you are interested in joining our team, please feel free to contact us.
